    The drivetrains in these cars were very strong, so it would truly take a lot of disdain for both components to go bad. The engine sounds like it ran yesterday, it sounds very healthy. Like the "centipede" name, very appropriate. Fix it up and restore it, it is a most rare vehicle except maybe those Toros that were cut down in size instead, and used to pull boats in & out of the water in a few places.

    • @ClevelandPowerPerformance
      @ClevelandPowerPerformance  8 месяцев назад +7

      That is wild with the Toros pulling boats in and out of the water, but w the front wheel drive and all of the power, I can see it for sure. The trans was supposedly shot and that is why the Jetway was parked, it did not shift great, but it did enough to move which is sweet. Very unexpected on our end, but awesome

      @@ClevelandPowerPerformance I bought a 1954 Dodge Fargo ambulance when I was 16 for $75. Nearly 50 years ago. It hadn't ran for over 10 years. Big old sidevalve 6, 3 on the tree. Threw a battery in it, cleaned the carby just as a precaution, used a matchbook striker to set the plugs and points, fresh fuel, fired up like it had been used that morning. Bled the brakes and drove it home. 38,000 original miles when I bought it, and still has less than 60,000 now. Old beast has never stopped, and that was literally, once 🙃. Apart from the brake upgrade, still original, except for the ambo paint. Faded, scuffed, zero rust, never had any. If only new cars could get the same reactions that the oldies do.

    I'm going to say do it right, don't do it right now. Don't be worrying about power tour, when you can't even get it to stop. Take your time and get the wiring fixed and the power train too. Not sure what you can do about the gas tank, but you probably need a new one. It's going to be fun figuring out how to put that on a rotisserie simply because of the size. It may not fit, but once the floors are redone, I'm gonna suggest bed liner underneath to help deaden road noise and to give it salt resistance. I wish it were multi wheel drive, because that could help with acceleration, but oh well. Lol. Have fun and make it nice. Maybe power tour 2026.

Looked like regular trucks until the back of the cab where it was really odd-looking. From there was a frame/bed close to the ground. A used car dealer had drawn up the plans & a local shop made it. Think 3 were made.

The leg room is atrocious and none of my clients would be caught dead in this ‘people hauler.’ To call it luxurious is liken to its build, a stretch. I sold the limo side of my business in the 90’s as the novelty of the stretch era wore off. Still a fleet owner providing ground transportation to well known corporate America firms. Glad you know your business inside and out…..I’m guessing the cost to restore will be beyond reasonable, but hey enough silly folk may throw dollars your way for the entertainment ride.
